It is believed that the flower language began in Turkey during the seventeenth century. Romantic lovers began using floral exchanges to convey emotional messages. Costa Rica offers an array of flowers that can express your feelings on your wedding day.  Let’s look at  flowers that are grown here and are usually available year round.  Tropical flowers are hearty and will stand up to the heat of Costa Rica on your wedding day.  They are exotic and come in an array of bright colors. 

Bird of Paradise resembles a brightly colored bird in flight. The orange flower has a touch of purple and the green of the stem is the perfect accent color.  It represents joy and paradise. There are lots of color choices that will compliment this flower. Try adding a seating card to the stem of the cocktail glass.

Heliconia  has about 40 different species. They are sometimes called “lobster claws” or “parrot flowers” because of their beak-like “bracts” which can be orange, purple, red, yellow, pink, green or a combination of these. The name signifies “great returns.” Here you’ll see a variety we have in Costa Rica called Sexy Pink. In this table setting it is paired with ginger and opal.

Ginger shows the fiery reds that are an expression of passion, love, and a strong bond between lovers. It is also a symbol of strength. This flower also comes in pink.  Using the tip makes an unusual boutonniere.

Anthurium has a bright red heart shaped leaf with yellow in the middle.  They also come in pale green.  It symbolizes hospitality, happiness and abundance. Shown with heliconia and mini pineapples to accent the napkin.This tropical wedding bouquet features ginger, opal, bird of paradise and orchids.
